After fourteen years of marriage and two children together, American actress Tia Mowry has filed for divorce from her husband Cory Hardrict, citing irreconcilable differences as the reason for their split.
The actress made an emotional announcement of the split in a heartfelt Instagram post writing, “I have always been honest with my fans, and today is no different.
“I wanted to share that Cory and I have decided to go our separate ways. These decisions are never easy, and not without sadness. We will maintain a friendship as we co-parent our beautiful children.”
The television personality continued, “I am grateful for all the happy times we had together and want to thank my friends, family and fans for your love and support as we start this new chapter moving forward in our lives.”
Tia Mowry also posted a cryptic message on her Instagram Stories seemingly hinting at the split earlier that day. It was a quote she had re-posted which read “Letting go can be painful. But, it won’t hurt as much as holding on to an illusion.”
According to court documents filed earlier this week, Tia is asking for joint physical and legal custody of their two children, eleven-year-old son Cree and four-year-old daughter Cairo while a date of separation was not specified.
In addition, she has requested the judge terminate the court’s ability to award spousal support to both parties and indicated she and Cory had a prenuptial agreement.
Just so you know, Tia met Cory, also an actor, on the set of the 2005 film Hollywood Horror. They dated for six years before saying “I do” in April, 2008.
