Preventive care is one of the best ways to protect your vision and prevent blindness. A good example of preventive vision care is your annual visit to the eye doctor for an eye exam. Otherwise, you may not ever think about your eye health.
World Sight Day, observed annually on the second Thursday of October, is a global event meant to draw attention to blindness and vision impairment. It was originally initiated by the SightFirstCampaign of Lions Club International Foundation in 2000
The theme of World Sight Day this year is the same, as last year; which is “Love Your Eyes.” It highlights the need to look after our ocular organs by getting them tested to ensure that no great vision loss occurs, which is preventable.

It is advisable that from the age of six months a child should undergo an eye check as some children can suffer from colour blindness.
