Jigawa State Police Command, on Friday, arrested a 30-year-old woman, Balaraba Shehu, for allegedly burying her baby alive inside the toilet.

The Command’s Spokesperson, DSP Lawan Shiisu, who confirmed the development, said Balaraba after delivering the baby out of wedlock conspired with Amadu to commit the act.
Shiisu said the body was exhumed from a grave the mother dug near a toilet within their residence.
DSP Lawan said the incident happened in Tsurma village, Kiyawa Local Government Area of Jigawa State.
“On receipt of the report, detectives exhumed the newborn baby from the toilet and arrested the suspected mother.
”The baby was rushed to the Dutse General Hospital and certified dead by the doctor.
The State Commissioner of Police, CP Emmanuel Effiom Ekot, is said to have directed the case to be transferred to SCID Dutse for discreet investigation.
