Nigerian musician, Oxlade has been fined a sum of 5 million Naira by Justice Olalekan Oresanya over a leaked sex tape with John Blessing.
The sex tape had been posted online in February 2022 without the consent of the lady, John Blessing who was sexually involved with the musician.
The lady John Blessing proceeded to file a case on March 15, 2022, seeking 20 million Naira in damages and a declaration that the respondent’s (Oxlade) act of recording his explicit sexual act without her consent amounted to a gross violation of her fundamental human right to dignity, privacy, and freedom from discrimination guaranteed.
Delivering judgement on the case, Justice Oresanya said the singer secretly recording himself having sex with John Blessing before it was leaked online was? despicable, horrendous, distasteful and classless.
Justice Oresanya said the court would have awarded exemplary and aggravated damages far greater than the agreed settlement sum of five million naira against the respondent for the alleged “cruel violation of the privacy of the claimant via the online/internet publication of an explicit sex tape involving the claimant and the respondent on 9th February 2022”.
The judge thereafter entered the Terms of Settlement dated January 11, 2023, as the judgment of the court.
By the consent judgement, Oxlade is to pay the N5 million damages awarded against him to the claimant in two installments of N2 million and N3 million respectively.
