Jadon Sancho Returns to Dortmund on Loan from Manchester United

Jadon Sancho, breaking his silence, declares “I’m back” as he ends his exile from Manchester United and completes a loan move to his former club, Borussia Dortmund.

Dortmund has officially confirmed Sancho’s return to the club on loan until the end of the season. The winger’s move follows a period of exclusion at Manchester United due to a falling out with manager Erik ten Hag. Sancho rejoins Dortmund, where he spent three years before joining the Red Devils in 2021.

Expressing his feelings about the return, Sancho stated, “When I came into the dressing room today, it felt like ‘coming home’. I know the club inside and out, I’ve always been very close with the fans here, and I’ve never lost contact with those in charge,” as conveyed on Dortmund’s website. He eagerly anticipates reuniting with his teammates, taking the field with a smile, contributing to goals, scoring, and aiding in the quest to qualify for the Champions League.

This transfer provides Sancho with an opportunity to revitalize his career at a familiar club. Having made only three substitute appearances this season and not played competitively since August, the winger looks forward to making a meaningful impact at Dortmund. The agreement involves Dortmund contributing €3.5 million (£3m/$3.8m) and up to €4 million (£3.4m/$4.3m) in add-ons, along with covering the majority of his wages.

While Sancho aims to make a significant contribution in the second half of the season, it’s worth noting that there is no buy option included in his loan agreement. Dortmund is set to resume action on Saturday in the Bundesliga against Darmstadt.
