Ferrari Optimistic to Maintain Pressure on Red Bull After Melbourne Victory

“Ferrari Optimistic to Maintain Pressure on Red Bull After Melbourne Victory

Following Carlos Sainz’s surprising triumph at the Australian Grand Prix, waves of Ferrari enthusiasts flooded Melbourne’s Lygon St, painting the Italian restaurant strip red as celebrations spilled into the early hours of Monday morning. As the team basks in the afterglow of their success, they set their sights on Suzuka in two weeks, aiming to carry the momentum gained at Albert Park forward in the championship race.

Sainz and teammate Charles Leclerc’s impressive 1-2 finish in Australia narrowed Red Bull’s lead to just four points in both the drivers’ and constructors’ title races, marking a significant turnaround from Max Verstappen’s previous dominance in the Middle East.

Ferrari’s fortunes were bolstered by Verstappen’s brake failure at Albert Park, ending Red Bull’s two-year streak of avoiding non-finishes on race-day. Despite this stroke of luck, Ferrari emerged from Melbourne buoyed by the performance of their SF-24 car, particularly after their struggles against Red Bull in Saudi Arabia and Bahrain.

Team boss Frederic Vasseur expressed confidence in Ferrari’s ability to keep Red Bull under pressure, highlighting the potential for errors when their rivals feel the heat. However, challenges lie ahead as Ferrari awaits their next showdown against Verstappen at the Japanese Grand Prix.

Meanwhile, Red Bull faced setup struggles in Melbourne, leaving them unprepared for the conditions compared to Ferrari. Despite doubts from some quarters about Ferrari’s pace, Sainz’s strong performance suggests otherwise, with Red Bull advisor Helmut Marko acknowledging the Spaniard’s competitiveness.

As Ferrari revels in their success, Mercedes finds themselves grappling with unexpected setbacks, evidenced by their lackluster performance in Melbourne. With a double DNF and a fourth-place standing in the championship, Mercedes faces an uphill battle to decipher the complexities of their W15 car.

Looking ahead, Ferrari remains determined to maintain their challenge against Red Bull, setting the stage for an electrifying battle in the races to come.”
