Veteran Nollywood actor Ibrahim Chatta has made it clear he has no interest in the Africa Magic Viewers’ Choice Awards (AMVCAs). Speaking on the Curiosity Made Me Ask podcast before the 2025 edition of the awards, Chatta stated:
“I am not interested; I’m not interested at all.”
The actor further explained that he has never submitted a project for AMVCA consideration, which is why he believes the organizers have no reason to nominate or invite him. He added:
“Whenever I am interested in going to the AMVCA, I would make a film and submit that film… But I’ve not given them any film to nominate me for.”
Chatta hinted that his reserved lifestyle and low social profile may be reasons for his continuous absence from the event. He emphasized that he receives recognition from respected figures like Professor Wole Soyinka and fellow actor Odunlade Adekola but chooses not to publicize them.
