Martins and Mercedes Evicted From BBNaija Season 11 After First Public Vote

When Martins Iyeh walked into the Big Brother Naija Season 11 house on 26 July 2026, he set his own terms. The 30-year-old visual storyteller, creative director and model from Kogi State said he was mainly there to have fun. If he failed to deliver, he told viewers straight up, they should vote him out.

Two weeks later, Martins took 1.63 per cent of the public vote. Mercedes, the 26-year-old massage therapist, performance artist and entrepreneur from Delta State, managed 2.29 per cent. Both left in the first double eviction of the “Show Ya Sef” season, while Keivo stayed with 2.92 per cent. The prize package of ₦160 million, including ₦100 million cash and an SUV, moved further out of reach for two of the original 24 housemates.

Martins’ “Vote Me Out” Challenge Comes Back Around

Martins’ opening pitch was honest and light. He never claimed he was coming to dominate strategy or engineer alliances. Fun was the plan. In a house that size, with the first week skipping eviction because of the Gambit twist that made Flora and Aikou protected until the finale, the space to prove even that modest claim was tight. Head of House challenges, Conspiracy Hour, shifting nomination and save rules, and Sheba’s early power play of stripping Cassi’s safety and handing it to Chimsom Chuka kept the cameras and conversations moving in several directions at once. Establishing a clear identity that viewers would fight to keep was another matter.

Why Two Weeks Wasn’t Enough for Martins and Mercedes

Mercedes entered with a different set of promises: entertainment, authenticity, vulnerability, confidence and boss energy. She was active. She mixed in the social circles, and she had a heated exchange with Oyin that trended for a while. On paper she was doing the work of being seen. Yet the vote still landed low. Being present in the room is not the same as giving people a reason to reach for their phones on eviction night. Early in a 24-person season, the gap between having scenes and building an audience becomes obvious fast.

Neither housemate had weeks to settle. The first eviction arrived only fourteen days after the premiere. In that short stretch the house dealt with multiple mechanical changes and competing storylines. What looked like solid early energy from the outside could still register as incomplete to viewers deciding who stayed.

What Martins and Mercedes’ Eviction Means for the Remaining Housemates

The first eviction of Season 11 does not declare that Martins or Mercedes brought nothing to the table. Two weeks is a thin slice of time when the house is still sorting itself out. It does, however, show what the audience is already measuring. Visibility alone does not protect anyone. Entertaining moments that fail to lock into a recognisable identity leave people free to look elsewhere. A strong entrance promise only works if the housemate quickly becomes someone the public feels they want to keep watching.

For the remaining housemates the lesson is immediate. The next vote will come with even less patience. In a season already full of twists and competing voices, the ones who survive will be those who turn presence into value for the viewers.
