Nasarawa Govt loses N600m in 2 months

Nassarawa State Government lost N600m , during the ongoing industrial action embarked upon by the state chapter of the Nigeria Labour Congress.

According to an investigation conducted by the media house, the state government may have been losing about N300m monthly in Internally Generated Revenue.

The report revealed further that the state’s revenue generating agencies such as the Nasarawa State Board of Internal Revenue and the Nasarawa Geographic Information Service indicated that the total IGR of the state put between N350m and N400m in previous months before the workers’ strike had declined to a little above N100m.

The two state agencies have been reportedly hit badly by the decline in revenue generation during the two months of the industrial action.

It was further gathered that the inability of the state revenue board to discharge its duties in recovering expected income from businesses had been stalled because of the workers’ strike.
