Buratai spoke at a seminar on Boko Haram insurgency which the Army Chief says provides him an opportunity to mourn a good lieutenant.

TVC News Defence Correspondent Sifon Essien reports that top Security officers and Senior Media practitioners converge on the Nigerian Army Resource Centre in Abuja for a seminar on Boko Haram Insurgency in Nigeria.

That’s because the military officers are mourning the gruesome murder of Lieutenant Colonel Mohammed Abu Ali and 6 others by insurgents.

They were killed late Friday,  November the 4th when insurgents attacked the 119 Battalion located at Mallam Fatori, Borno State.

Lieutenant Colonel Abu Ali, who was the Commanding Officer of 272 Task Force Tank Battalion, until his death was fondly called Sarkin Yaki in Hausa, which loosely translates as Lord of War.

This was due to his doggedness and commitment in recapturing Nigerian territories from Boko Haram.

His most priced weapon was his tank which he drove in the vanguard of all the operations he was deployed to.

Reports indicate that he operated the most sophisticated of all war equipment deployed to the North East.

The late officer’s bravery prompted an acceleration of his promotion to the rank of Lieutenant Colonel.

He was decorated by the Chief of Army Staff at Gamboru Ngala on September the 9th 2015.

The Nigeria Army grapples with the death of the young officer regarded as Boko Haram’s nemesis.

But Buratai is assuring everyone that the gallant officer won’t die in vain

For Lieutenant Colonel Abu Ali it’s an end to a trail of victories; a career in the Army; and a life on earth.
