And just before the new legal drama starts, the Aquaman star has fired one of her lawyers, Elaine Bredehoft, who was lead counsel in the Heard—Depp trial and in that same vein hired a new legal team.
Her new lawyers are David Axelrod and Jay Ward Brown of Ballard Spahr, with co-counsel duties carried out by Ben Rottenborn, who previously served as her co-counsel.
Reacting to her removal, Elaine Bredehoft said, “This is the perfect time to pass the baton. I have pledged to Amber and her appellate team my complete cooperation and assistance as they move forward on a path towards success.”
Amber Heard new legal team on the other hand in a joint statement said, “We welcome the opportunity to represent Ms. Heard in this appeal as it is a case with important First Amendment implications for every American.
“We’re confident the appellate court will apply the law properly without deference to popularity, reverse the judgment against Ms. Heard, and reaffirm the fundamental principles of Freedom of Speech.”
If you recall during six weeks long trial in the Johnny Deep and Amber Heard defamation case, the verdict awarded Johnny Depp over ten million dollars in damages.
