Erik ten Hag Criticizes Media Reaction to Manchester United’s FA Cup Victory

Erik ten Hag criticized the media’s reaction to Manchester United’s FA Cup semi-final performance against Coventry, calling it “a disgrace.” He defended his team’s achievement in reaching their second consecutive final despite the narrow win.

United lost a 3-0 lead at Wembley and narrowly avoided elimination in extra time due to a VAR decision that ruled out an offside goal. They eventually advanced on penalties, securing a rematch of last year’s final against Manchester City.

Ten Hag acknowledged his team’s close call but dismissed any notion of embarrassment, stating that reaching the final was a significant accomplishment. He faced criticism and speculation about his job security, with some suggesting the performance would lead to his dismissal.

Despite recent struggles in the Premier League, Ten Hag remained defiant ahead of United’s match against bottom-side Sheffield United. He emphasized the importance of winning every game and qualifying for Europe, either through the league or the FA Cup final.

Manchester United may face Sheffield United without Marcus Rashford and Scott McTominay due to injury concerns. Ten Hag mentioned working closely with new technical director Jason Wilcox to shape the club’s future direction. Wilcox joined from Southampton and will collaborate with Ten Hag to catch up on the club’s progress and accelerate their plans.
