Experts call for energy smart ideas to tackle climate change

With the changing climate and energy crises Nigeria faces, energy smart ideas are needed to help people have accessto clean energy.

Ugochi Oluigbo reports that Nigerians are contending with numerous challenges including scarcity and high cost of petrol, poor electricity supply and hazardous effects of generator fumes on health and the environment.

But in the midst of all the gloom, some ingenious Nigerians are coming up with alternative energy ideas that are affordable and clean.

Femi Adeyoma and  Adeola are renewable energy experts who believe that with the enormous sunshine Nigeria experiences all year round, solar energy should be Nigeria’s biggest energy source.

With the support of Britain’s Department of International Development, DFID and Nigeria’s Bank of industry, the duo have come up with an innovative solar solution startup that they believe will give Nigerians, especially those in rural areas, access to cheap, clean energy.

They say that with support from government and other stakeholders, more Nigerians can get into the business of renewable energy.

Green jobs have the capacity of generating millions of employment for Nigerias, and the option of renewable energy will help tackle Nigeria’s energy crises, reduce the rising cost of living and stop toxic polluted air that reduce the life expectancy of Nigerians
