‘I lost my mum at final year and still made 1st class’ – Barrister Opeyemi Tiffany shares her story

Barrister Opeyemi Tiffany Ehimiaghe, who made a first class despite all odds, today shared and inspiring story on TVC Yourview show with the ladies. She said, ‘I put my story out there not because I’m bored but to humbly encourage someone out there not to lose hope”

She recounts how she lost her mom to a brain tumor in her final year, her dad had died in 2007 and with a heart condition herself, Opeyemi had to be living near a hospital in case anything happened. Yet, she graduated with a first-class degree in Law, from the University of Lancaster and aims to do her Ph.D.

She said: ”It’s been one of the toughest years of my life. I lost my mom – my only surviving parent – my family had to come together to pay my final year school fees following the scarcity of foreign exchange and the recession in Nigeria. Also, I had to work to support my living expense and my other day-to-day cost. I was working three shifts which were very inconvenient for my studies but I had no choice… However, I quit the jobs because I could not keep up with it.

My friends at Lancaster helped me out financially following my mom’s demise and I really couldn’t have done it without their help.

I want to say a big thank you to all the people who have made a huge contribution to my life. My life has worked out perfectly thanks to the help and support I received at university.”
