Max Increases subscription prices again

Max, the streaming service formerly known as HBO Max, HBO Go, and HBO, has raised its subscription prices once again. This comes as no surprise, as we anticipated this move. The price increase will impact your bank account if you’re considering subscribing for the second season of House of the Dragon.

The standard ad-free plan now costs $17 per month or $170 per year, which is a $1 per month or $20 per year increase. The ultimate ad-free plan is priced at $21 per month or $210 per year, an increase of $1 per month or $10 per year. The ultimate plan offers 4K UHD streaming and the ability to stream on four devices simultaneously.

For those who don’t mind loud ads during their favorite shows, the Max With Ads plan remains unchanged at $10 per month or $100 per year.

Current monthly subscribers will experience the price increase on their next billing cycle, likely sometime this month. Yearly subscribers will continue to pay the lower price until their renewal. This is the first price increase since Max rebranded last year.

While Max hasn’t been releasing much new content lately and has been canceling some shows, there are a few upcoming series to look forward to. House of the Dragon premieres this month, and there are plans for a Penguin series, Dune: Prophecy, and the second season of The Last of Us, although their release dates are still uncertain.
