REMA Honors D’BANJ at Sold-Out O2 Arena Concert, Celebrates Afrobeats Legacy

Afrobeats superstar Rema paid a powerful tribute to music icon D’banj during his sold-out concert at London’s O2 Arena, recognizing D’banj’s pioneering role in bringing Nigerian music to the UK. In a surprise moment, Rema invited D’banj on stage, applauding his groundbreaking 2012 hit “Oliver Twist”—the first Nigerian song to enter the UK Top 10—which helped launch the global Afrobeats movement.

Rema credited D’banj and Don Jazzy, co-founder of Mo’Hits and Mavin Records, for opening international doors and shaping the careers of Africa’s new wave of artists. The tribute resonated deeply with the crowd of over 20,000 fans, highlighting Afrobeats’ evolution from its roots to worldwide acclaim.

Rema’s O2 Arena concert combined electrifying performances, stunning visuals, and heartfelt moments, solidifying his status as a global Afrobeats ambassador while honoring the legends who paved the way.
