Juliet Vincent Obi, an Educationalist and child entrepreneur enthusiast made us understand that as parents, new year’s resolution is not restricted to only adults but parents should also make resolutions for their kids and she went ahead to give tips on how we can ensure that they last throughout the year.
A New Year’s resolution is a tradition, most common in the Western World but also found in the Eastern World, in which a person resolves to continue good practices, change an undesired trait or behaviour, accomplish a personal goal, or otherwise improve their behaviour at the beginning of a calendar year.
However, according to Juliet new year resolutions don’t last past April because there is no accountability and actionable steps and they can’t be tracked and that is why we encourage goal setting.
It is important for parents to know that kids need goal setting as well as it teaches them responsibility so they can understand that if they are to succeed or not it depends on them. It teaches them time management.
Teach them that goal setting is an actionable plan on what they want to accomplish or achieve or what they want to be better at.
According to research people who start setting goals in life achieve far better in life than those who did not.
There are rules for setting goals which is called SMART GOALS

- M – Measurable
- A -Attenable/Achievable
- R – Reliable
- T – Time Bound
