TVC E, BUSINESS – The Nigerian Senate on Tuesday, asked the ministry of power, the Nigerian Electricity Regulatory Commission (NERC), and the electricity distribution companies to immediately suspend the 45 percent increase in electricity tariff

‎This the senate says was prompted by the present economic situation of the country which has brought untold hardships on Nigerians.

Recall that Civil society groups have protested on the first of February, across the country against the increase of electricity tariff.

Acting on the call by Nigerians, a senator representing Bauchi north, urged the senate to immediately intervene in the situation.

He also asked that the senate probe how funds ‎allotted to the electricity companies has been spent, and look into factors hindering the optimal functioning of the power sector.
