Types of separation
- Trial Separation: Legally, not much changes during a trial separation. If you and your spouse need a break from the relationship, one option is to live apart while deciding whether to divorce.
- Permanent Separation: This is when you live apart from your spouse without any intention to reconcile, but you are not divorced, the law considers you permanently separated.
- Legal Separation: When you’re no longer married, but you’re not divorced either, so you can’t marry anyone else.
