Simon Cowell ‘to take legal action against The Voice after copying Six Chair Challenge’

The X Factor head judge is reportedly upset that European versions of The Voice has a similar segment to his long-running show.

As viewers will know, hopeful acts have to battle it out for a coveted seat before heading off to Judges’ Houses.

When all six seats fill up, mentors have to decide whether the next singer is worthy of stealing a seat or not.

And now The Voice has a very similar format during the battle round, though involving four chairs.

Simon, 57, is said to be looking into taking legal action against Talpa, the production company which owns the rights to The Voice.

“Simon listened to advice but decided to continue with his action against Talpa,” a source told the Mirror. “He is speaking to lawyers who specialise in format protection.”

The UK version of The Voice doesn’t include the same segment because Fremantle, which makes The X Factor, got guarantees from ITV, according to insiders.
