WATCH | Important Ways To Achieve A Healthy Lifestyle

How To Deal With Past Biases In Your Relationship [VIDEO]

In this segment, a Clinical and laboratory consultant, Oluwakemi Awojumobi shares practical ways/tips to living healthy.

Speaking about how often one should go for checkups she said,

For general checkups it is important you go at least once a year. You should not wait until you start feeling down or symptoms before you go for a checkup because at that point it’s no longer a checkup.

You’re trying to diagnose a problem and you lose the benefits of screening and checkups before problems start occurring.

When a test is done, does one need a doctor to explain the test?

Ideally, when an individual comes to the lap for a test, it is a sort of consult but when you are doing an annual health check, we summarize it in a layman’s term and we further advise you if you need to see your doctor or not.

To achieve a healthy lifestyle, you need to,

  1. Eat a healthy diet.
  2. Consume less salt and sugar.
  3. Reduce intake of harmful fats.
  4. Avoid harmful use of alcohol.
  5. Don’t smoke.
  6. Be active.
  7. Check your blood pressure regularly.
  8. Get tested.
