WATCH! The Do's & Don'ts After An Autism Diagnosis

In this segment, Osezusi Bolodeoku, special educational needs expert, reveals the steps to take after a diagnosis of Autism for your child.

There are different factors like, genetic factors, environmental factors etc that can cause autism in a child. And with that, every child will need different kind of care to go through.

Autism is a neurological developmental disability with an estimated prevalence of one to two percent of the American and worldwide population. The diversity of the disability means that each person’s individual experience of autism and needs for supports and services can vary widely.

Diagnosing autism spectrum disorder (ASD) can be difficult because there is no medical test, like a blood test, to diagnose the disorder. Doctors look at one’s developmental history and behaviour to make a diagnosis. ASD can sometimes be detected at 18 months of age or younger

Do some reading, ask some questions, do not jump to conclusions if your kind is diagnosed of autism.

In reality there are things so much worse than an autism diagnosis. Look around you. There are people dealing with truly tragic situations so don’t let it ruin you and your happiness.
