Xander Schauffele Claims First Major Title at the PGA Championship

Xander Schauffele secured his first major title by sinking a six-foot birdie putt on the par-five 18th hole at Valhalla, winning the PGA Championship with a record-breaking score of 21-under. This score is the lowest ever in a major championship, surpassing the previous record held by Brooks Koepka and Henrik Stenson.

Schauffele’s victory came after an intense final round where he shot a 6-under 65, edging out Bryson DeChambeau by one stroke. DeChambeau, who finished with a birdie of his own on the 18th, was ready for a playoff but watched from the range as Schauffele claimed the win.

The Olympic gold medallist now adds the prestigious Wanamaker Trophy to his accolades. His final round was marked by precise play, including a tricky shot from near a bunker on the 18th that set up his winning putt. After the putt dropped, Schauffele celebrated with his caddie Austin Kaiser and received congratulations from his fellow competitors, including DeChambeau.
