Yobe Governor sacks 17 LG Treasurers, DPMs

The Yobe state Governor, Ibrahim Gaidam has sacked the Directors of personnel Management (DPMs) and treasurers of the 17 Local Government Councils in the state as he seeks to win the war against ghost workers.

Michael Oshomah reports that governor Gaidam further stated that the action was aimed at surmounting the big problem of ghost workers on the Local Government payrolls, which he affirmed continues to slow down development at the grassroots’ level .

At a meeting with the new appointees Gaidam said his efforts to eliminate ghost workers from the payroll of the Local Government had been repeatedly thwarted either by the treasurers or the DPMs hence the need to show them the door.

The Governor revealed that some public Servants in the state were recently involved in corruption. He has directed the state Head of Service to suspend the affected staff and expose them as a way of teaching them an exemplary lesson.

He warned those with similar intentions not to test the resolve of his administration.

Governor Gaidam charged the new appointees to work assiduously to justify the confidence reposed in them by ensuring prudence, probity and accountability.
