FG says shocked at Agatu massacre

TVC E, NEWS – The Federal Government says it is shocked at the sad news of incessant attacks on innocent Nigerians in Agatu and other Communities in Benue State.

Minister of Interior, General Abdulrahman Dambazau says security forces are being mobilised to decisively deal with the perpetrators of the dastardly acts.

More than 500 people across eight communities have been killed and more than 10, 000 displaced following Fulani militias’ invasion of eight communities in Agatu.

Blood was freely spilled in the attacks by the militiamen and several villages completely sacked and razed to the ground.

Villages like Aila, adagbo, Akwu, okokolo, ugboju, odigbeho were worst hit.

“Our noses were filled with stench from burnt property and decayed corpses  as we journeyed from one community to another,” said TVC News’ Dooshima Abu who visited the area.

The crisis started in 2012 when some youths from Gwer-west killed a Fulani leader in Agatu.

The people of Agatu are now calling on the government to find a lasting solution to the frequent attacks which have left them more vulnerable.
