South Africa striker Andisiwe Mgcoyi insists Bayana Bayana will not be intimidated by the Super Falcons when they clash in thesemifinal of the Cameroon 2016 African Women’s Nations Cup in Limbe on Tuesday.
Nigeria on Saturday pounded debutants Kenya 4-0 in their Cameroon 2016 Group B last game to win the group and set up a semifinal showdown with South Africa, who massacred Egypt 5-0 in their Group A last fixture to place second behind hosts Cameroon in the group.
South Africa, who have yet to win the tournament since its inception in Abeokuta in 1998, have met seven-time champions Nigeria on 21 occasions with the Falcons winning 14 times. Bayana won three times‚ while both sides settled for draws in four encounters. The Falcons beat their Southern African rivals 2-0 to win their second consecutive title in Boksburg, Southern Africa, in 2000.
