Cash crunch : Police urge protection of ports

Nigeria-Seaport3TVC E, BUSINESS – The protection of Nigeria’s economic gateway is of the essence in view of dwindling oil funds.

The Police Commissioner in charge of the Ports Authority Command, Hilda Ibifuro-Harrison underscored this point during a training programme for officers and Men of the command.

The training programme explored issues regarding the country’s current economic realities, while also echoing the need for more security consciousness in safeguarding the nation’s revenue earning capacity.

The importance of priming the ports for increased trading activities devoid of illegalities and unwholesome practices were also emphasized.

Mindful of recent incidents of extra judicial killings and the negative effect such occurrences have on the image of the police, the session further sought to address the emotional impact and the effective coping strategies for enforcement professionals.

Against this backdrop, law enforcement agents were reminded about the immense responsibility they bear.
