Ondo APC threatens to boycott LG polls

APCTVC E, POLITICS – All appears set for the conduct of council polls in Ondo state,  seven years after Governor Olusegun Mimiko took over the reins of power.

Although protracted legal battle was  responsible for the delay, the main opposition party in the state, the All Progressives Congress (APC) may boycott the election.

But with the plan to compensate the council chairmen who served under former Governor Olusegun Agagu, the matter was settled out of court.

This paved the way for the conduct of local government elections slated for April 23, by Ondo State Independent Electoral Commission (ODIEC).

In spite of the threat by the APC to boycott the local government polls, other parties including the ruling People’s Democratic Party have signified interest to participate in the elections.

The last council election in the state was held in 2007.
