Pre-hearing of Kogi guber election petition tribunal stalled

TVC E, POLITICS – The pre-hearing of the Kogi governorship election petition tribunal, could not go on as scheduled

The tribunal which was to commence on Tuesday, with pre- hearing, was stalled, in order  to enable all the parties involved, serve each other, the six petitions filed by them.

The All Progressive Congress, immediate past governor of the state, and  four other parties, are challenging the emergence of Yahaya Bello as governor.

Crowd of supporters, families and friends from Kogi state converged on the tribunal in Abuja.

The courtroom was filled to its capacity with more supporters milling around, many anxiously waiting to see how the day’s proceeding, would turn out.

The arrival of the three man panel, headed by Justice Halima Mohammed, set the pace for the day.

But the pre-hearing of the suits filed by James Faleke, the immediate past governor of the state, Idris Wada and four other political parties, could not heard because the six applications were not served before the day’s proceedings.

The chairperson,  Justice Halima Mohammed then ordered that the motions be served on all parties before the next adjourned dates.

Counsel to the incumbent governor, Mahmud Magaji, prayed the court to strike out the applications of most of the petitioners on the ground that they lack merit.

Speaking to newsmen after the days proceedings, counsels to Faleke and the PDP, said they are challenging the infractions  that took place in the state during the election.
