FIFA threatens Warri Wolves over N82m debt

TVC E.  The world soccer governing body, FIFA has received complaints from the players and could sanction the club if they failed to pay up.

Warri Wolves could find themselves in cold water following debts owed to their players. Warri Wolves owe their players sign-on fees and other entitlements from last season. And these players include Azubuike Egwuekwe, Solomon Kwambe, Gbolahan Salami, ThankGod Ike, Oghenekaro Etebo, Stanley Dimgba and others.

They made representations through their lawyers to the FIFA dispute resolution chambers and the club have been mandated to pay the players their salaries amounting to N82,507,960.00 or the club will be thrown out of the CAF champions league.

Last season Warri Wolves were one of the clubs owing their players outstanding salary and the Nigeria professional league management Company had threatened to deduct points, but somehow the clubs were left off the hook. Speaking on the development Warri Wolves chairman Moses Etu said the club have not received any official letter from FIFA, but officials were aware that the players did take their case to a higher level.

Etu said, “Right now I cannot comment on the situation since we have not gotten any letter from FIFA. “What I know is that we have discussed with the LMC. The players could not authenticate their claims, there was no documentation on the said liability. “It is just some individuals who have left the club that are trying to complicate matters for us.”
