Paul Pogba Vows to ‘Fight Injustice’ of Four-Year Doping Ban, Rules Out Retirement

French midfielder Paul Pogba has emphatically stated that he is not finished with football, despite being handed a four-year doping ban after failing a standard doping test in August 2023. Pogba is taking his appeal against the ruling to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS), determined to prove his innocence and return to the game.

In a video that was poorly edited, Pogba was portrayed as saying his career was “dead” professionally. However, the Juventus player has clarified that he never said he was retiring from football. “If you don’t see a video where I say that I am stopping with football it’s because I am still a football player,” Pogba told Sky Sport Italia.

Pogba, who was in attendance to watch France’s victory over Belgium in the Euro 2024 last-16, remains positive and eager to get back on the pitch. “I am still here, still positive, I have an opportunity to fight what in my view is an injustice,” he said.

The 31-year-old World Cup winner is currently on the lowest possible salary at Juventus, as he is unable to train or play for the club. However, reports of his contract being terminated on June 30 proved to be inaccurate. Pogba stated that he is still a Juventus player and is waiting for the outcome of his appeal.

Despite the legal hurdles he faces, Pogba remains determined to clear his name and return to professional football. “Pogba is not finished, Pogba is here and until you see me say I’m finished, don’t worry,” he emphasized. The French midfielder is eager to get back to doing what he loves most – playing the game.
