Federal High Court orders Lagos VIS to release impounded taxis

The Federal High Court sitting in Ikoyi, Lagos has ordered the state’s Vehicle Inspection Service to release all the taxis impounded for lack of accreditation and failure to have drivers’ badge.

Justice Chuka Obiozor gave the order after hearing a suit brought before the court by the plaintiff,  Arogundade Adekunle and two others.
The defendants in the case include the vehicle inspection services  and four others.

This follows the arrest and impounding of cars belonging to some taxi drivers in Lagos state .

Justice Obiozor threatened to imprison the chief vehicle officer in the state if the court orders are disobeyed.

Further arguments in the suit will be heard on March the 27th.
