“Buga,” “Sungba,” “Last Last,” Or “Overdose” — What’s The Song Of The Year So Far?

This is the last week of June and that means in a few days we’d have gone through half of the year 2022.

The year started on a high note, with major collaborative hits like “Baddest Boy,” “Finesse,” and “Omo Ope” disturbing the airwaves.

Then we started to see more players like Rema, Asake, Fireboy, and Adekunle Gold come with new bangers. Some even came through with new albums within the first two months of the year.

It wasn’t until May though, before we had an influx of releases that saw everyone from Burna Boy to Davido and Asake release new music.

All in all, it’s been an exciting year so far and there’s been a lot of good music. Kizz Daniel, Rema, Fireboy, Burna Boy, Davido, Zinoleesky, Naira Marley, Simi, etc, have all put out new content.

Now as we approach the second half of the year, it’s time to evaluate those songs that have got us through the first half of 2022.

Granted, some top artists are yet to really release anything (OlamideWizkid) but that will definitely change as we near the end of the year. Definitely.

Of all the myriad of songs that have been released in these six months, four of the contenders for Song of the Year so far are:

1. Kizz Daniel & Tekno – Buga (Lo Lo Lo)
2. Burna Boy – Last Last
3. Asake feat. Burna Boy – Sunga (Remix)
4. Mavins – Overloading (Overdose) feat. LADIPOE, Ayra Starr, Crayon, Magixx & Boy Spyce

Which of these is the song of the year so far? If you have another one in mind not on the list, then be sure to put it in the comments.
