FIFA Appoints New Officials for Benin Republic vs. Nigeria World Cup Qualifier

FIFA has made adjustments to the officiating team for the 2026 World Cup qualifying match between Benin Republic and Nigeria. Originally slated to take place at the Stade Felix Houphouet-Boigny in the Ivorian capital on Monday, June 10, 2024, the match will now see Gabonese official Pierre Ghislain Atcho replacing Ethiopian official Bamlak Tessema Weyesa as the referee.

Additionally, Cameroonian Antoine Max Effa Essouma will step in as the fourth official, taking the place of Ethiopian Tewodros Mitiku. However, the assistant referees, Temesgin Samuel Atango and Tigle Gizaw Belachew, will remain unchanged.

The originally-designated referee assessor, match commissioner and security officer retain their places in the Day 4 encounter that comes up only three days after the Super Eagles, Bafana Bafana clash at the Godswill Akpabio Stadium, Uyo in a Day 3 battle.
