Google Street View goes live in Kampala

kampalaGoogle Street View has made its first foray into Uganda, a beautiful country in East Africa. Uganda is a delight for tourists of all kinds and it boasts a rich wildlife.

Kampala, the capital city of Uganda, calls herself ‘The Happy City’ because it displays a great mix of the fast growing economy, and Uganda’s amazing cultural heritage.

Google Street View has been one of the cool ways to tour around the world without leaving your couch or wherever you are. It extends from taking virtual tours around cities, exploring landmarks and it is definitely a fun tool.

In Africa, Google has not extensively used their gear that includes cars with 360 degree cameras to map certain areas like major towns and post them on Street View. Google recently partnered with the David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust, Samburu National Reserve, Lewa Wildlife Conservancy and Save the elephants to map Samburu National Reserve in Kenya.

Google has announced that Street View is now live for Kampala. Uganda becomes the 5th African country (after South Africa, Botswana, Swaziland and Madagascar) where Google Street View is available.

Google Street View is now available in 75 countries worldwide.
