Manchester United are in advanced talks with Bayern Munich over the potential transfer of Moroccan right-back Noussair Mazraoui.
The move comes amid renewed interest from West Ham United in signing United’s Aaron Wan-Bissaka.
West Ham had previously agreed a £14.9 million fee with Bayern for Mazraoui, but the deal fell through as the player expressed a preference to join Manchester United. United need to sell Wan-Bissaka this summer to fund a move for another right-back, and Galatasaray and other suitors were put off by United’s initial £20 million valuation.
However, it is now believed that Wan-Bissaka could be available for a fee closer to the £14.9 million that West Ham had agreed with Bayern for Mazraoui, which includes an initial £12.6 million plus £2.3 million in add-ons. If West Ham can reach an agreement with United for Wan-Bissaka, it would pave the way for United to complete a deal for Mazraoui.
Reports suggest that United have already agreed personal terms with the 26-year-old, who previously played under Erik ten Hag at Ajax before joining Bayern in 2022. United are also maintaining a strong interest in Mazraoui’s Bayern teammate, Matthijs de Ligt.
United have already signed Leny Yoro from Lille for £58.8 million and would ideally like to bring in Jarrad Branthwaite from Everton, but have so far been unwilling to meet the Merseyside club’s £75 million valuation of the England defender. De Ligt, 24, could be available for a lower fee, although there is currently a gap between Bayern’s valuation and what United are willing to pay.
