Recession will phase out in 2017 – Oyegun

The National Chairman of Nigeria’s ruling party is confident the current economic recession will phase out in the coming year.

John Oyegun spoke while receiving some defecting prominent Plateau state leaders from the country’s main opposition party.

For the All Progressives Congress, it’s the dawn of a new beginning in Plateau state as it puts together the grand reception to welcome erstwhile PDP chieftains who have now seen reason to team up with the nation’s ruling party.

At the Rwang Pam stadium, top APC stalwarts including the Speaker of Nigeria’s House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, were joined by other party faithful to give the defecting politicians a rousing welcome.

Three hundred and forty three card carrying members of the PDP in the state were officially welcomed to the APC.

Prominent among the defectors are : the immediate past Deputy Governor of the state, Ignatius LongJang., former Governor and Senator representing Plateau central Joshua Dariye, as well as the incumbent Deputy Speaker of the State House of Assembly.

Speaking on the current economic recession, Oyegun and Dogara appealed to Nigerians to show understanding with the government as it tirelessly working to stamp out hardship from the land.

They believe efforts so far put in place will guarantee an end to economic depression in the next few months.

The former Governor of the state and the Senator representing Plateau Central, Joshua Dariye, spoke on behalf of the defectors.

He assured the APC of their loyalty and promises to support the Governor in propelling Plateau state to greater heights.
